Done with Chemo!!:)

Thank you God. Mum is done with chemo.
I am happy that she has been able to endure the stress of chemo. But the fatigue has got her this time.
She is really weak. I can't stop calling. I wish I were there to hold her hand and massage her feet or at least help her up the stairs.
God please be with my mum.

Gift of family!

'I am blessed', that is what I thought to myself as I walked on N street in DC this afternoon.
An hour earlier, I had spent about 2 hours talking with my family, laughing and just sharing. My mum, sisters, my nephew Jordan.
I am lucky. I have family that I talk to, who get me, who listen, who share who support me, who are loyal to me all the time. I am wealthy and abundantly blessed.
And I owe all this to God. He knew me before I knew myself. He looked at the most beautiful woman, the most handsome man, the most brilliant minds he had created. He considered the wealthiest families, the most powerful in the land and He thought to himself, 'who would Ruth be the happiest with?' And of all of them, He chose my parents. Had he asked me, I probably would have picked the wealthiest. But He knew me better than I knew myself coz He knew that as I grew up and became more whole as an individual, I would always choose love before any of the others. He knew that having a family that loves and accepts me unconditionally is what I consider wealth. He knew that is the only thing that matters to me. Thank you God. You made me the wealthiest girl ever, without me asking. That is why I surrender all to you. I know you will always have my back. I trust that you have my best interests at heart and may your will be done in my life, career, family, personal life. You are God and I give it all to you.

Friendship

After posting earlier today, I decided to read through my earlier blogs, to retrace my footsteps through this blog. As I read through, I realized that I hadn't written about something that has been on my mind for a while now, the true meaning of friendship. The hard times always have a way of showing you who your friends are. The deafening silence from all of them, as though if they asked how mum is doing it might melt their flesh or make them seem unfriendly. Or at least ask how I am holding up. But no, nothing. No phone call, no email, no text, just silence. Did they fall off the earth? I don't think so. They just disappeared.
It makes me wonder what kind of friend I have been. It makes me realize the importance of asking how someone is doing and actually staying to hear the response.
This experience has shown me that I can thrive or at least survive under pressure and that I have no friends. My goal is to make one friend. Someone I can love freely and trust will be there the same way I will be there for them. I am celebrating my next birthday with this friend. This is a pledge I am making to myself and I am on my way to making it happen. Oh! btw, he is also my soul mate. I am going to be engaged by next birthday. Thats about 7 mths away. Let me get to it....

Hallelujah!
