Friendship

After posting earlier today, I decided to read through my earlier blogs, to retrace my footsteps through this blog. As I read through, I realized that I hadn't written about something that has been on my mind for a while now, the true meaning of friendship. The hard times always have a way of showing you who your friends are. The deafening silence from all of them, as though if they asked how mum is doing it might melt their flesh or make them seem unfriendly. Or at least ask how I am holding up. But no, nothing. No phone call, no email, no text, just silence. Did they fall off the earth? I don't think so. They just disappeared.
It makes me wonder what kind of friend I have been. It makes me realize the importance of asking how someone is doing and actually staying to hear the response.
This experience has shown me that I can thrive or at least survive under pressure and that I have no friends. My goal is to make one friend. Someone I can love freely and trust will be there the same way I will be there for them. I am celebrating my next birthday with this friend. This is a pledge I am making to myself and I am on my way to making it happen. Oh! btw, he is also my soul mate. I am going to be engaged by next birthday. Thats about 7 mths away. Let me get to it....

Hallelujah!
